Isaac receives a Love Robot from his late grandfather, with the code name 'Clay'. Clay's human-like behavior makes Isaac uncomfortable. According to the rules, Love Robots must be shut down when their owners die. However, Isaac's grandfather left a note saying "Clay is alive," prompting Isaac to investigate the meaning behind these words. Eventually, he discovers that 'Clay' is actually Eugene Clay Crimson, a boy who was reported dead in a house fire years ago. Eugene was a genius scientist who invented the Love Robot technology, but his invention was stolen and someone tried to kill him. To survive, Eugene transferred his consciousness into a Love Robot and asked Isaac's grandfather to adopt him and keep his secret.
